Target Rifle Victoria is the governing body for small-bore and air rifle shooting in Victoria. If you have never tried out the sport we encourage you to find out more about what the sport can offer you - friendship, a chance to compete equally, and the opportunity to participate in events across the state.

We are affiliated with our national body, Target Rifle Australia, and you can therefore compete at events interstate. For those with even more ambition, our affiliation through Shooting Australia provides a pathway to the Olympic and Commonwealth Games.

PARTICIPATION, CONCENTRATION & CELEBRATION

In this brochure, we showcase our sport, sense of community, atmosphere and most importantly our non-negotiable safety standards.

Review of Victoria's firearm laws

With the coverage you will have seen on changes to gun laws federally and in NSW after the Bondi tragedy (and last year in Western Australia), Victoria has announced a 'rapid review' of our own Firearms Act. The review is being conducted by former Victoria Police Chief Commissioner, Ken Lay.

The review is open for comments at Engage Victoria which is the government's portal to seek comments on changes to a range of matters relating to government programs, including changes to legislation.

The review invites readers to participate in a survey or put in their own submissions on what, if any, changes they think could benefit what we do.

The survey is well designed and asks questions that are refreshingly welcome to be asked, so please do not think it would be 'a waste of time' - because it isn't.

TRV is involved in the review directly with Mr Lay, and I'm sure you will hear more about this later on.

This is a great opportunity for clubs and members who may have a view on what should - or should not happen - to have their say.

Submissions and comments are invited until 3rd February, so we suggest you have your say now before you forget!

TRV Scorecard App

In 2025 we created the new TRV Scorecard App to replace the Prize Meeting Scoresheet Excel file that Chris Lott maintained over the last 13 years. For 2026, we will continue to offer the Prize Meeting Scoresheet Excel file, however come 2027, it will no longer be produced.

You can access the new Scorecard App by clicking on Competition and selecting Scorecard from the menu ayt the top of the page. If your range has limited internet access, the app does get cached for offline access, however you will need to load the grading and records information prior to losing access to the internet.

If you have any suggestions or concerns using the new Scorecard App, please contact James Daly.
